New to Cowboy Action I was at my first big
shoot.
I was on a real good posse and we were gonna have a hoot.
On stage number one, the first cowboy was shooting the holy black.
He shot them pistols duelist style, and shot them back to back.
I was standin four feet behind him holdin my spotters stick
When he pulled the trigger on the first round I thought I had been kicked.
The BOOM from that big old gun was an awesome thing to hear
The concussion of that round goin off hit my chest then slammed my ear
Four more BOOMs, a pause and then….. five more just the same.
Smoke obscured the targets, as the barrels shot their flame.
The funny thing that happened, and that added to the charm
Was five or six of the cars in the lot were soundin their alarm.
The shooter shot his rifle, and finished with his side by side
While enroute to the table he had smile he couldn’t hide.
So that’s how I’ll remember him, his smoke, his flame, his smile.
Goodbye my friend “Ole Deadeye”, we’ll all see you in a while.
